Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant & Asst. Dir. Of  Philanthropic Affairs

Reports to: Director of Accounting & Client Impact

Indirect Reports: Chairman of the Board & Senior Legal Counsel, Director of Sports and Entertainment, Director of Philanthropic Impact

Position: Full time/ salaried staff position

Edward Charles Foundation (ECF) is a boutique 501c3 fiscal sponsor umbrella that runs over seventy (70) charitable initiatives around the world for its exclusive celebrity and affluent clientele who are solving some of the world’s biggest problems.

 

 

Position Summary

 

While this position is heavy on the accounting responsibilities, this is an incredible entrée into the philanthropic world for those who are looking to transition into more management level positions within the charity and foundation world down the road.

 

You will be learning (from a best in class team) about philanthropic strategy & impact, legalities and charitable fundraising.

 

This is a fast-paced, fun environment for someone who really wants to engage.

 

It will take someone who has the core competencies of nonprofit accounting, reconciliations and reporting.

 

 

Core Competencies

 

  • Accrual based accounting principles.
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Bills.com and payables.
  • Journal Entries
  • Creating and Maintaining Chart of Accounts
  • Nonprofit accounting principles
  • Able to generate financial reports such as profit and loss, statement of activities, balance sheet
  • 1099 vendor reports, schedule of contributors
  • 990 and other tax form preparation
  • Payroll entries
  • Handle creating invoices and receiving payments in accounting software
  • Handling checks for deposit
  • Credit card reconciliations
  • Creating sub-accounts for “new clients”
  • Able to help a lay person understand a financial report.
  • Audit trail.
  • Issue charitable receipts.
  • Work with outside CPA’s and other advisors at times.

Responsibilities

 

  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Credit card reconciliations.
  • Weekly wires, check writing and maintain digital paper trail.
  • Set up of new clients.
  • Weekly invoices created to be reviewed by Dir. Of Accounting.
  • Deposits
  • Generating monthly financial reports for review by Director of Accounting and Chairman.
  • Set up independent contracts, w9 and Monthly 1099 reports for Chair and Dir. Of Accounting.
  • Set up payroll for new employees and coordinate with out outside payroll company.
  • Utilize Bills.com for payables.
  • Understand reporting requirements for 501c3 organizations.
  • Prepare 990
  • Professional communication with clients.
  • Setting up new clients in Xero accounting software.
  • Like to research things in real time for client questions and respond quickly and professionally.

 

 

Education and Experience

 

  • B.S. from 4 year institution
  • Excel
  • CPA, a plus
  • IRS Form 990 Preparation, a major plus
  • LLM in Tax, a plus
  • Nonprofit Accounting
  • 3 years or more experience in nonprofit world
  • Budgeting and/ or forecasting, a plus.
